Cancer is the top strategic priority of the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW). The MCW Cancer Center (CC) is simultaneously investing $100M in five parallel research initiatives that include Immuno-Oncology, Metabolomics, Structural & Chemical Biology, Precision Oncology, and Community-driven Research. This faculty position will help build these major cross-disciplinary research initiatives and integrate them with the Prostate Cancer Center of Excellence (PC-COE). The PC-COE is focused on prostate cancer research and outstanding clinical care. The key participating MCW units of the PC-COE include the departments of Pathology, Urology, Radiation Oncology, Medicine and the division of Biostatistics. Froedtert Health Network (FHN) & MCW are the inpatient and outpatient market share leader in cancer care in our catchment area of Eastern Wisconsin. The prostate cancer patient intake volumes for Urology, Radiation Oncology and Medical Oncology include a total of approximately 600-700 patients annually. PC-COE basic research and clinician members meet on a monthly basis to facilitate research collaborations, collaborative grant submissions and clinical trials. In addition, the PC-COE provides a distinct training program for its pre- and post-doctoral trainees and junior faculty, and seed funding for new promising collaborative projects and an outstanding environment for translating preclinical concepts in prostate cancer research to clinical trials within the areas of Urology, Medical Oncology and Radiation Oncology.
